U-3 stop plate is a rail fastening component used to prevent lateral rail movement and to retain the rail on the baseplate under horizontal loads. It is installed on the outer side of the rail and operates together with a clip and bolt. It is used in clip-type rail fastening systems during the installation and maintenance of railway tracks of various purposes.

Description and design

The U-3 stop plate is manufactured in accordance with DSTU GOST 24741-81 from high-strength structural steel. The design consists of a steel plate with a bent bearing profile that precisely matches the shape of the rail web. This shape ensures tight contact between the rail and the plate, preventing rail displacement under vibration and lateral forces. Fastening is carried out using an M22 clip bolt and an M22 track nut.

The plate profile corresponds to KR-120 rails;
Manufactured by hot stamping followed by machining;
Heat treatment provides increased wear resistance;
The coating protects the metal from corrosion and mechanical wear;
Service life — not less than 25 years under standard track operating conditions.

Application

U-3 stop plates are used in rail fastening systems of types KB, KBL, KP, and similar systems and are installed on the outer side of the rail. They are applied during the installation and repair of railway tracks on mainline, station, industrial, and turnout sections. The plates are intended to prevent rail displacement caused by lateral forces generated by passing rolling stock.
