Wooden sleeper Type 1 is an element of the railway superstructure designed for laying under rails and ensuring track stability. It is used on mainlines, station areas, and industrial railway sections during track construction and repair.

Description and design

Type 1 wooden sleepers are manufactured in accordance with GOST 78-2009 from Grade I–II softwood timber. After mechanical processing, the sleepers undergo drying and deep antiseptic impregnation in autoclaves, which provides protection against moisture, decay, and biological damage. The geometric parameters of the sleepers ensure correct rail positioning and even distribution of loads from rolling stock.

Timber is carefully selected, free from rot and large knots;
The sleeper ends are sealed with mastic to prevent cracking;
Holes for spikes and screws are made according to standard Ukrzaliznytsia drawings;
Impregnation ensures a service life of at least 25 years under proper operating conditions.

Application

Type 1 sleepers are used for railway track installation on public-use sections with intensive traffic, as well as in station zones and industrial branches. They are compatible with R-50 and R-65 rails and all types of rail pads and fastening systems in accordance with DSTU 3311:2019.
