Wooden sleeper Type 2 is an element of the railway superstructure designed for rail installation on industrial, station, and siding tracks. It ensures track stability, accurate rail positioning, and even distribution of loads from rolling stock onto the ballast base.

Description and construction

Type 2 wooden sleepers are manufactured in accordance with GOST 78-2009 from Grade I–II softwood timber (pine, spruce, larch). After machining and drying, the sleepers undergo deep antiseptic impregnation in an autoclave. This technology ensures long service life and resistance to moisture, rot, and fungal damage. The sleeper design is intended for installation of R-43 and R-50 rails using standard rail pads and fastening systems.

Mechanically finished surface with precise geometry;
Holes for spikes and screws made according to standard Ukrainian Railways drawings;
Antiseptic treatment provides a service life of up to 25 years under proper operating conditions;
Type 2 sleepers are approved for use on Category IV–V tracks and industrial branches.

Application

Type 2 wooden sleepers are used in the construction of railway tracks at industrial facilities, warehouses, sidings, and stations. They are compatible with R-43 and R-50 rails and all standard rail pads (D-43, KB-50, KBL-50). Suitable for both new track construction and routine maintenance works.
