Reinforced concrete sleeper SB3 — an element of the railway track superstructure designed for rail installation within turnouts and main railway lines with high axle loads. It ensures track strength and stability, long service life of turnout assemblies, and reliable performance under intensive train traffic.

Description and design

Sleepers of type SB3 are manufactured in accordance with DSTU V.2.6-209:2016 (GOST 10629-88) from high-strength heavy concrete with pre-stressed reinforcement. The design is intended to withstand high dynamic loads and to evenly distribute forces from the rails to the ballast base. SB3 sleepers are widely used in turnouts of types 1/9, 1/11, and 1/18, as well as on straight track sections with R-65 and R-75 rails.

The sleeper surface is equipped with embedded parts for fastening rail pads;
The concrete has water resistance W8 and frost resistance F200;
The reinforcement is pre-stressed to increase load-bearing capacity;
High geometric accuracy ensures stable track gauge;
Service life is at least 50 years under standard operating loads.

Application

SB3 reinforced concrete sleepers are used in railway turnouts and on main track sections subjected to high loads and intensive traffic. They are compatible with R-65 and R-75 rail types, as well as with modern rail fastening systems such as KB-65, KP-75, and ZhBR-65. These sleepers are applied in new construction and reconstruction of public and industrial railway lines.
