PS-2 rubber pad for turnout — an element of the railway superstructure installed under turnouts to provide elastic rail support and protect sleepers. It is designed to reduce dynamic and impact loads, vibrations, and noise generated during train movement. Used in turnout assemblies with R-50 and R-65 rails.

Description and design

The PS-2 pad is manufactured in accordance with DSTU 2805-94 (GOST 34078-2017) from high-quality rubber with increased wear resistance and elasticity. The material retains its properties at low temperatures and under exposure to oils, moisture, and ultraviolet radiation. The pad is installed between metal components of the turnout and supporting sleepers or a concrete base, providing damping and insulation.

The elastic structure effectively absorbs dynamic loads during wheel passage;
The material does not absorb moisture and is resistant to aging and cracking;
Tight contact prevents the formation of gaps and displacements;
Approved for use in climatic conditions down to −50 °C;
Service life — at least 10 years under standard turnout load conditions.

Application

PS-2 pads are used in turnout assemblies of all types (SPR-50, SPR-65, SPR-85, and similar) installed on wooden and reinforced concrete sleepers. They are applied during major and medium repairs of turnouts on mainline, station, and industrial tracks. The pads protect structural elements from impact loads and extend the service life of the turnout unit.
