Bridge Timber — an element of the railway track superstructure designed for rail installation on bridges and overpasses. It ensures reliable rail fixation, even load distribution, and track stability under dynamic forces from rolling stock.

Description and application

Bridge timbers are manufactured in accordance with DSTU GOST 28450:2018 from high-quality softwood species — pine, spruce, or larch. To increase durability and resistance to biological impact, the timber undergoes drying and preservative treatment by deep impregnation with creosote-based or oil-based compounds. This treatment protects the wood from decay, moisture, and temperature fluctuations.

The timbers are used on railway bridges, trestles, viaducts, and crane tracks where increased strength and stability of the track superstructure elements are required.
