Reinforced concrete sleeper Sh-9-2 — an element of the railway superstructure designed for installation as part of railway turnouts, enabling rolling stock to be transferred from one track to another. It is used on mainline, station, and industrial railway lines, as well as on reception-departure and classification tracks.

Description and design

Sleepers of type Sh-9-2 are manufactured in accordance with DSTU B V.2.6-209:2016 (GOST 10629-88) from high-strength heavy concrete of class not lower than B30, using pre-stressed reinforcement. The sleeper design ensures uniform distribution of loads from the turnout assembly, reliable rail fixation, and track gauge stability under dynamic loads from passing rolling stock.

The sleeper surface is equipped with embedded components for anchor fastenings;
The concrete has frost resistance of at least F200 and water impermeability of W6;
The product is designed for loads up to 25 t/axle;
Geometric accuracy: ±3 mm in length and ±1 mm in height;
Service life — at least 50 years under standard operating loads.

Application

Reinforced concrete sleepers Sh-9-2 are used as part of turnouts of types 1/9 and 1/11 with rails R65, 60E1, and UIC60. They are applied on main tracks, stations, access tracks, and industrial branches. The design ensures stability of the turnout assembly and high installation accuracy of turnout components (switch rails, frogs, guard rails).
