Since 2010, Prombudkoliya has been performing scheduled maintenance and routine upkeep of railway tracks on industrial, access, and mainline sections. All works are carried out in accordance with the requirements of Ukrzaliznytsia, DBN V.2.3-19, and regulations governing the technical maintenance of railway tracks.

Purpose of Scheduled Maintenance

Scheduled railway track maintenance is aimed at maintaining the serviceable condition of the track, turnouts, ballast layer, and track panel. Regular technical maintenance prevents excessive wear and reduces the risk of accidents and speed restrictions for train operations.

Main Types of Work

Technical Inspection and Track Diagnostics

Visual and instrumental inspections of rails, sleepers, joints, fastenings, ballast layer, and track geometry are carried out. Settlements, misalignments, and defects of permanent way elements are identified.

Track Lining and Lifting

Adjustment of longitudinal and transverse profiles is performed, including elimination of misalignments, settlements, and deformations. Track machinery and mechanized tools are used to ensure precise alignment by level and direction.

Replacement of Sleepers and Rails

Selective or scheduled replacement of wooden, reinforced concrete, or plastic sleepers is performed, as well as replacement of rails with defects in the head, web, or base. All works are carried out with control of joints and expansion gaps.

Turnout Maintenance

Includes cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and replacement of turnout components. The operation of switch blades, frogs, rods, and switching mechanisms is inspected. Alignment and leveling are carried out as required.

Ballast Cleaning and Compaction

Mechanized cleaning of contaminated ballast is performed, new crushed stone is added, and the ballast layer is leveled and compacted to ensure proper drainage and track stability.

Elimination of Defects and Settlements

Local restoration of track geometry and stability, replacement of worn fastenings, elimination of rail joint defects, and tamping of sleepers in settlement zones.

Post-Maintenance Condition Control

After completion of works, instrumental verification of level, track gauge, gradients, and ride smoothness is carried out using geodetic equipment and Ukrzaliznytsia-approved gauges.

Examples of Completed Works

Scheduled Maintenance of an Industrial Track (Dnipro, 2023)

Alignment of 2.4 km of track, replacement of 320 sleepers, lubrication of turnouts, and ballast cleaning were performed. Works were completed without interruption of transport operations.

Maintenance of Terminal Access Tracks (Odesa Region, 2022)

Replacement of 180 sleepers, repair of joints, track gauge geometry control, and ballast replenishment were carried out. Technical condition reports and as-built schemes were prepared.

Cleaning and Adjustment of Turnouts (Poltava Region, 2021)

Cleaning and adjustment of switches, lubrication of rods and frogs, and replacement of worn components were completed. Operational testing of turnout mechanisms was performed.

Inspection and maintenance are recommended at least once per quarter, and monthly on sections with intensive traffic.

Can maintenance be performed without stopping traffic?

Yes, certain works (inspection, lubrication, sleeper tamping) are carried out during scheduled maintenance windows without full suspension of train movements.

How are maintenance results documented?

Upon completion, technical condition reports, as-built schemes, and maintenance logs are prepared and approved by the client and a representative of Ukrzaliznytsia.
