Used wooden sleepers - Specifications

Material: Softwood timber (pine, spruce, larch), treated with antiseptic

Technical parameters:

Purpose: use in repair and construction of tracks with low load intensity
Sleeper types: 1, 2, 3 — depending on condition and geometry
Length: 2300–2750 mm
Width: 220–250 mm
Thickness: 150–180 mm
Condition: free from cracks, permissible wear up to 15%

Used wooden sleepers — sleepers that have previously been in service and are suitable for reuse in the repair and construction of railway tracks, industrial sidings, warehouse areas, and construction sites. After dismantling, the sleepers undergo sorting, cleaning, and selection based on geometric and strength parameters.

Description and condition

Used wooden sleepers comply with the requirements of GOST 78-2004 and are intended for secondary use. Depending on their condition, sleepers are classified into categories: suitable for installation on category IV–V tracks or for construction purposes (fencing, decking, reinforcements). Surfaces are cleaned of old fasteners and contaminants; additional antiseptic treatment may be applied if required.

Permissible residual wear in height — not more than 10–15%;
Through cracks, rot, and delamination are not allowed;
Suitable for installation with rails of types R-33, R-43, R-50;
Re-treatment with antiseptic according to GOST 20022.0 is possible.

Applications

Used sleepers are applied on access, construction, and temporary railway tracks, as well as for industrial and construction needs — decking, scaffolding, retaining structures, and fencing. They are used in routine maintenance of tracks with low speeds and moderate loads.
