Technical specifications:
Hump brake shoe is a device designed for mechanical braking and stopping of railcars during classification from a hump yard. It provides deceleration of rolling stock through interaction with the wheel, eliminating impact loads and preventing uncontrolled car movement. It is used on classification, station, and shunting tracks.
The hump brake shoe is manufactured in accordance with TU 32-01124.323.72-94 (DSTU GOST 15150-69) and is a steel structure consisting of a body with a roll-on surface, a brake block, and a clamping hook that engages the rail. The working part is shaped to ensure tight contact with both the rail and the wheel. When a wheel rolls onto the shoe, the railcar is smoothly decelerated, and the shoe provides stable braking force without damaging track components.
Hump brake shoes are used during railcar classification from hump yards, as well as during shunting operations at stations. They are applied to decelerate and smoothly stop railcars during train formation. Compatible with R-50 and R-65 rail types. Installation is performed manually by station personnel on classification or shunting tracks.
