Joint bolt M27×180 — an element of railway fastening designed for connecting rails at joints using joint bars. It ensures a strong and durable connection of rail profiles, preventing displacement and deformation under dynamic loads from rolling stock. It is used in the construction, repair, and maintenance of mainline and industrial railway tracks.

Description and design

Joint bolts M27×180 are manufactured in accordance with DSTU GOST 11530:2014 (GOST 11530-93) from high-strength structural steel. The bolt design includes a threaded part and a square (or oval) head that prevents rotation during tightening. The bolt is used together with an M27 nut and a ShS-27 washer according to GOST 6402, ensuring uniform load distribution over the entire area of the joint bar and rail.

Manufactured by hot forging and machining;
Quenching and tempering provide strength and elasticity of the threaded part;
The material withstands axial loads up to 300 kN for strength class 10.9;
The coating protects against corrosion and wear in outdoor operating conditions;
Service life — up to 25 years under standard track loads.

Application

Joint bolts M27×180 are used to connect rails of types R-50, R-65, and R-75 using joint bars 1R, 2R, and transition types. They are applied on mainline, station, and industrial tracks, as well as in turnouts. Compatible with joint bars manufactured in accordance with DSTU 3323:2019 and supplied with nuts and washers according to GOST 7798 and GOST 6402.
