Single-coil spring washer ShS-27 — a spring-type railway fastening element designed to prevent loosening of bolted joints under vibration, dynamic, and temperature loads. It is used in clamp, joint, and embedded connections during the installation of R-50, R-65, and R-75 rails.

Description and design

Spring washers ShS-27 are manufactured in accordance with DSTU GOST 19115-91 (GOST 6402-70) from high-strength spring steel. After heat treatment, the product acquires elasticity and resistance to cyclic loads. The design is a split single-coil ring that provides elastic resistance against loosening of the joint under axial and vibrational impacts.

Shape and dimensions comply with DSTU GOST 19115-91 (GOST 6402-70) for M27 threads;
Hardness after heat treatment — 41…49 HRC;
Surface is oxidized or zinc-coated for corrosion protection;
Fatigue resistance — more than 10⁶ cycles;
Service life — up to 20 years under standard track operating conditions.

Application

Single-coil washers ShS-27 are used during railway track installation as part of fastenings and rail joint connections. They are applied with M27 bolts when installing fishplates, clamps, and embedded components. The washers ensure reliable fixation of the joint, preventing self-loosening of nuts under vibration and impact loads. Recommended for sections with high dynamic loads — station, turnout, and mainline areas.
