Transition Fishplate R-50 / R-65 — a railway track element designed for joining rails of different types and weights (R-50 and R-65) within a single joint. It is used at transition points between track sections laid with different rail profiles, ensuring smooth alignment and uniform load distribution at the joint.

Description and Design

Transition fishplates R-50 / R-65 are manufactured in accordance with DSTU 9056:2020 from high-strength, wear-resistant structural steel. The profile geometry accounts for differences in rail height and base width between R-50 and R-65 rails, providing tight and reliable mating with minimal stress concentration in the joint area.

One side of the fishplate matches the R-50 rail profile, the other matches R-65;
Working surfaces are precision-milled for tight contact with the rail web;
Bolt holes are manufactured with high accuracy to align with both rail types;
Heat-treated or cast versions (20GL steel) are permitted;
Protective coating — anti-corrosion (phosphate, zinc, or oil-based).

Application

Transition fishplates R-50 / R-65 are used to connect railway track sections laid with different rail types—such as during reconstruction, major overhaul, or construction of industrial and station tracks. They are applied on public and non-public railway lines, including temporary connections and interfaces between mainline and industrial tracks.
