Railway open-end wrench — a hand tool designed for installation and maintenance of railway rail fastenings. It is used for tightening and loosening nuts of clamp, anchor, and joint bolts during track laying and repair. Ensures reliable fixation of connections and precise adjustment of tightening force.

Description and design

The railway open-end wrench is manufactured in accordance with GOST 2839-80 from high-strength tool steel. The design is a double-ended wrench with open jaws for M22 and M24 nuts. The wrench length is selected to provide an optimal balance between applied force and ease of operation. The working surfaces are heat-treated to increase hardness and wear resistance, while the handle has a knurled or rubberized surface for a secure grip.

Manufactured by hot forging followed by heat treatment;
Jaw openings designed for standard railway bolt nuts;
High dimensional accuracy ensures tight contact with nut flats;
Surface protected against corrosion and mechanical damage;
The tool is balanced for one-handed operation with torque up to 500 N·m.

Application

Railway open-end wrenches are used during installation and repair of rail joints, baseplates, and clamp fastenings on railway tracks. They are applied by track, repair, and installation crews for servicing rail connections on mainline, station, and industrial tracks. Particularly effective for tightening M22 and M24 bolts in confined spaces between sleepers.
